NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (N.S.S.)

About National Service Scheme (N.S.S.):

The National Service Scheme (N.S.S.) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programs. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Since inception of the NSS in the year 1969, the number of students strength increased from 40,000 to over 3.8 million up to the end of March 2018 students in various universities, colleges and Institutions of higher learning have volunteered to take part in various community service programs.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.

To fulfill this aim and objectives of National Service Scheme, KBS & NATARAJ College, Vapi has started N.S.S. unit from this current academic year 2018-2019 under the affiliation of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat. In this program University has given permission of 1 Unit of 100 students to our College and Assistant Professor Miss. Khushbu B. Desai has been appointed by university as N.S.S. Program Officer.

Throughout the year, all the N.S.S. volunteers performed their duties sincerely and participated in various Social Activities, Seminars and Competitions.

The following various activities of the N.S.S. Unit for the academic year 2018-19 has been a record of accomplishments:

  • Celebration on ‘Mahatma Ghandhi Jayanti’
  • Poster Competition and Talk on 150th Birth anniversary of ‘Mahatma Ghandhi’

  • Joy of Giving Programme on Festival of Diwali
  • Cleanliness Drive Campaign
  • Participated in one day workshop on ‘Juvenile Justice System’
  • Participated in N.I.C. Camp
  • Participated in ‘National Youth Parliament festival-2019’ competition
  • Participated in Republic Parade
  • Dental Checkup and Awareness Camp in the campus
  • Cloth Donation Camp
